New Electronics

Before I left for Japan I installed a Futaba S9550 low profile servo and an R603FF receiver. The low profile design of the servo leaves plenty of room in front of the motor for extra cooling, and the new radio is nice, because I don't have to worry about channel conflicts anymore.

Back from Japan

I didn't get a chance to post before I left, but I've been in Japan for the past ten days and just got back home last night. Expect to see plenty of pictures from the Shizuoka Hobby Show, Tamiya Shizuoka Circuit, Speedway Pal, and more over the next few days.

Practice Track

If you have a two-car driveway/garage or access to an empty parking lot close by, you can set up your own drift track for less than $15. All you need are some 1" x 2" pieces of wood cut up in 2.5' to 5' lengths. And when your done drifting, everything is small enough to easily fit into a closet.
This is a layout I used yesterday:

TA05 Tuning

I changed some settings on my TA05 today, the most noticeable one being the ride height. I lowered the rear 3mm to give the chassis more steering response.

ESC Case Mod

I've never been a big fan of translucent cases when it comes to electronics (especially when they're pink/purple), so I decided to paint the case of my Futaba MC230CR ESC. This ESC came apart very easily, and the only masking required was the sticker on the top half.
