Time Attacks

I painted an old set of wheels today. The results are far from perfect, but I'm still pretty happy with how they came out. I masked off one of the lips because painting them both can make it difficult to slide on ABS.

Back from Canada

My girlfriend and I just got back from Canada today. It was a bit colder than we're used to, but I still had a good time. Now it's back to working on my projects.

Test and Tune

Today my friend and I did some tuning on his TA04. It's a good chassis for drifting, and with just a little bit of tuning it becomes a great one. A while back I added some weight to the front bumper to help the weight distribution on the chassis (the majority being located at the rear), and today I lowered the front ride height to give it just a little more bite.

Yokomo JZZ30 Toyota Soarer

I wasn't sure what body I was going to do for the DPP, but then a good friend of mine made the decision easy by giving me a body he wasn't planning on using anymore. This is my first time working with a Yokomo D1 replica, and I'm happy with the amount of decals that are included. I especially like how they include a set of "stock" decals just in case you're going for the street look (which I am).

Also included with the body:
- rear spoiler
- windshield wipers
- muffler
- license plate frame

- side mirrors

Now I have to decide on a color...

Yokomo Drift Package Plus

I finished building a Yokomo Drift Package Plus recently. The kit is based on the standard Drift Package and also includes the following upgrades:
- full ball bearings
- aluminum threaded dampers
- universals for the front wheels
- blue main drive shaft
- spur/pinion gear cover
I have to say it was nice building a kit that had the parts for each step bagged together instead of having to look through multiple bags for a particular step. It was also nice of Yokomo to include a few spares of parts that are prone to breaking (e.g. solid axles). One small problem I have with the kit is that the motor mount hole is too small to fit Tamiya stock motors and Tamiya Sport Tuned 23turn motors (one of my favorites).
